World Scout Jamboree

The World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) is a global gathering of Scouts and Guides from every corner of the world. It’s a chance to meet scouts from all cross the world, to build international friendships, discover new cultures, and take part in lots of different activities.

The first Jamboree took place in Olympia, London, in 1920. Since then, it has been held roughly every four years in a different country, bringing together 14-17 year olds to share experiences, learn about the world, and try new adventures.

Most recently, in summer 2023, over 4,500 Scouts and Guides from across the UK travelled to Korea for the 25th World Scout Jamboree. The next Jamboree will be hosted in Gdańsk, Poland, in summer 2027, which I will be attending.

The UK Contingent

The UK contingent is the team that is attending the WSJ, made up of Participants, Unit Leaders, the International Service Team (IST), and the Contingent Leadership and Support Team. Together, we represent the UK on the world stage.

The UK is sending 70 units to the Jamboree.

Hampshire and the Isle of Wight have joined together, and have been awarded 4 units, and I am part of one of these units.
